Supporters of Emeka Ihedioha, former governor of Imo, flooded the streets of Owerri, the state capital, on Sunday, demanding a reversal of the Supreme Court judgement which ordered him to vacate the office as the Imo State governor.
The protesters, majorly dressed in black attires, shouted different slogans ranging from “Democracy Has Been Murdered” to “Bring Ihedioha Back.”
The aggrieved protesters wielded placards with inscriptions such as: “Ihedioha We Know’; “Democracy Is Murdered By Tanko”; “We Want Him Back”, among others.
The apex court had on Tuesday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to return Hope Uzodinma, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as winner of the March election.
Uzodinma placed a distant fourth in the results announced by INEC.
