Empathy definitions encompass a broad range of emotional states, including caring for other people and having a desire to help them; experiencing emotions that match another person’s emotions; discerning what another person is thinking or feeling and making less distinct the differences between the self and the other. It can also be understood as having the separateness of defining oneself and another a blur.
It is also the ability to feel and share another person’s emotions. Some believe that empathy involves the ability to match another’s emotions, while others believe that empathy involves being tenderhearted toward another person.
On the other hand, an empath is simply a person with the paranormal ability to sense the mental or emotional state of another individual.
Empaths are the real superpowers who are here to help heal humanity.
If you still don’t understand what an empath is, find below questions on psychic trait manifests to help you determine if you are one.
Have you ever met with new people and after talking with them for about 15-20 minutes, you get a sense of who they are on a deep, intuitive level?
Do you often experience physical sensations in your body when you meet someone if they send you strong “vibes”?
Can you walk into a room or a meeting and automatically pick up on how each person is feeling?
If your answer is yes, then it means that you are an empath. Other signs that you are an empath:
1) Knowing 2) Effective Listeners and Communicators 3) Overwhelmed in Public Places 4) Feeling Others Emotions Pains, Illnesses and Stresses 5) Mood Swings, Unpredictable and Needy 6) Sensitive to TV, Radio, and Movies and Real Life Chaos 7) Magnetic Pull of Trust 8) Constant Fatigue.
Now that you can relate with what an empath is all about, the good news is that if you are one, you are not alone in this. I am one and I see empaths as unique people because we heal humanity and we connect with people on a deeper level.
Although triggers to an empath trait could be overwhelming at times, but we are the real superheroes.
As empaths, our ability to be with people is extraordinary.
Being empathetic, big feeling, thin-skinned, highly sensitive person sometimes feels like a curse, but ultimately, it’s a blessing. Our skin might be thin and porous, letting the negative in—the depressing news about insurgence in the Nigeria, anger over the latest political upheaval, sad news about a friend’s health or death—but it also lets in the positive as well.
I have cried hot, angry tears after reading about the latest string of insurgence and kidnappings, but I’ve also wept quiet, tender tears hugging another mother on my doorstep because of an exceptional act of kindness. Your big feelings propel you to action. Your empathy creates understanding and connection.
But ultimately, I have found that the biggest help is self-acceptance. This is who I am. I am an empath, big feeling, thin-skinned, highly sensitive person. I am soft and pliable, and while I’m sometimes envious of those who have thick skin, those who have a laissez-faire attitude toward life; I am just not one of those people.
One of my favorite quotes comes from author Iain S. Thomas: “Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”
If this is resonating, here are the 3 things you must master in order to use your empathic gifts.
1. Establish rock solid healthy boundaries in order to stay centered, grounded, and sane so that you don’t experience burnouts or exhaustion.
2. Use an effective and efficient system to process energy so you no longer need to shut down or lash out when triggered.
3. Learn to clearly and confidently communicate your needs so you can feel supported and understood. Stop trying to be normal and be the genuine person you were born to be.
Stop trying to be normal and be the real and genuine person you were born to be. My fellow empath, you have a choice. Stop buying the bullshit and start embracing and enhancing your gifts. We’re real life X-Men for God’s sake! No, it’s not easy. Yes, only some of us will do the work so we can lead the way. That’s why it’s called leadership.
I’m calling on my people who are done shielding and staying silent, who are fed up with feeling all the depression and anxiety and powerlessness in this world. I’m calling on us to heal our wounds, deal with our destructive behaviors, and make a difference, now.
It starts with you, with your self-love and self-esteem. The world awaits your kindness and positive energy. Give one, live and let’s live.
